There are basic items that everyone should keep in their car, like jumper cables, a flashlight, flares, tire jacks, a spare tire or tire repair kit and the list can go on and on depending on how prepared you want to be.
My focus is not on those things, I want to share with you the things I keep in my car either because I needed it at one time or another or simply for convenience.
So Let’s start with the front…
I have a visor organizer that I use to keep all my reward cards so that I don’t have to carry them in my wallet and yet I have them with me whenever I need them. I just take them out before I go in the store and put them back when I get back to the car.
I also keep coupons for restaurants and places to eat in the little mesh pocket. That way If I decide to stop and get something to eat, I always have my coupons with me to help save a little money.
I keep one cellphone holder on the driver’s side vent and one on the passenger’s side. I don’t carry a purse so I would usually put my cell on the seat or middle console and many times it would end up on the floor. My kids love having it too since I’m always encouraging them to stay off the phone and talk to me and this way they can see it if something REALLY important pops up on their screen.
From left to right;
On the vent to the left of my steering wheel I have a little car pocket that I have clipped to keep things I like to access frequent and easily such as chewing gum and chapstick or lip gloss.
I keep a little whisk broom and dust pan in the front passenger’s side door for quick clean ups and spills or excessive dirt.
I have a cute little trash can container in my driver’s side door that I use to just throw away little pieces of trash that otherwise would end up in the door like receipts, straw covers or gum wrappers.
On the front passenger’s side I used Velcro tape to secure a food container that I use for larger trash.
Now on to the middle console…
In the middle console I keep a variety of things:
A bag of colored pens and a notebook - because I’m a planner addict and I have a need to write things down no matter where I am.
Wet wipes - for the obvious
A mini office supply kit - because the need for a paper clip or rubber band happens at the weirdest times.
Earphones - handy when someone has the desire to watch or listen to something no one else does.
Nail clippers - because I don’t know about anyone else but it’s always when I’m sitting in the car waiting that I discover, I really need to cut my nails.
In the trunk…
I bought 3 cube bins and clipped them together using binder clips. Inside the bins I have 4 clear plastic containers labeled:
Emergency care stuff:
First Aid Kit
Cotton Swabs / Q tips / Floss
Car cleaning supplies
Extra Coffee Cup
I also have 3 micro fleece throw blankets for those cold and sleepy passengers and a mat for those unplanned stops at a park for lunch and last but not least, everyone needs reusable bags to help save the earth and I keep mine under the trunk floorboard.
